SEO Rock stars or pop stars
The first thing I saw when I logged into twitter this morning was a link to Rishil’s blog post on SEO rock stars (If you haven’t read it yet, go read it now, don’t worry I’ll still be here when you finish)
I loved this post, it encompasses everything I feel about online communities, the big take away message – Decide what shaped peg you are and put yourself in that hole.
However it also got me thinking about the SEO rock stars. The more I get involved in the SEO community, the more I’m finding I’m disappointed with many of the the “rock stars” of the industry. I have found that some are living off past glory, some have made a name from other people’s hard work and knowledge, and some are genuine superstars who deserve the credit and admiration they get (I would argue that Rishi is a rock star and deserves all the compliments he gets, and I’m not just saying that because I was on his follow friday list, but I digress)
So what’s the point of all this early morning musing? Not all SEO rock stars are rock stars, some of them are one hit wonders still hanging around on (Edited to add : Think about this before you click this link folks, if you were going to link to a one hit wonder who would it be, now are you sure you still want to click?) Youtube , some of them are the real thing. Some of the less known SEO’s are the ones making the best music, and sometimes you have to decide which radio station you want to tune into.
I hate you for Rick Rolling me
@rishil
I didn’t think anyone would actually click, I assumed the readers of LeedsSEO were too clever for that and would see through my ploy in seconds…nothing like overestimating your audience lol
For the record – an honest post SHOULD NOT include one of those dirty things… its like inviting someone to a formal dinner party and then serving up beans on toast…
@rishil
Hey, when people come to dinner at mine they get beans with sausages, I’m dead posh me!
Who me? Fall for that old Rick Rolling trick?
…Of course I did.
